Csárdás Dance Company Continues ? Upcoming Performances!

Managing Director of the Csárdás Dance Company, Toni Gras, announces that the Csárdás Dance Company will continue providing the joy of Hungarian dance to Cleveland, Ohio and beyond! When Executive Director, Richard Graber, relocated to Houston, Texas this summer, many wondered if the dance company he founded eleven years ago would continue. It has always been Richard?s wish that the dance company continue should he ever leave. Toni Gras, who served as Board President for four years for the dance company, has taken on the role of Managing Director this summer and has dedicated her time to ensuring that the Csárdás Dance Company continues operations as a professional dance company. Currently, the Csárdás Youth Ensemble is the main operating faction of the non-profit dance company.

Former Cs?das Dance Company dancers, Stuart Meyer and Nicole Cafera, will serve as interim dance instructors. In addition, occasional workshops with guest choreographers will be conducted where new dancers are invited to learn Hungarian dance steps, as well as the current dancers learning new techniques and styles. Richard Graber has announced that he will be facilitating as a guest choreographer. Workshops and classes take place at the International Culture Center located on W. 130th Street in Hinckley. Those interested in the workshops should contact Toni Gras at 440-668-6500 or info@Csárdásdance.com.

The youth ensemble performed this past August at the Ohio State Fair as part of the Multicultural Day celebration in Columbus. In addition, the ensemble was honored to receive a recognition certificate from the Governor of Ohio. On Saturday, September 3 they performed at the ?Taste of Cleveland? event at Tower City Amphitheatre. The youth ensemble is also scheduled to perform at Severance Hall in a Family Concert Series on Saturday, November 12, 2005. For information contact Severance Hall at (216) 231-7300. Local schools have also booked the youth ensemble for ?Informances,? informative performances, which not only showcase dances of the Hungarian people, but also provide an educational aspect to learning the Hungarian culture integrated with slides, language, costumes, and customs.

Csárdás Dance Company operates a web site at www.Csárdásdance.com and is updated frequently. Recent photos from performances can be seen by clicking the link at the bottom of the Photo Gallery page. Csárdás also still publishes a quarterly electronic newsletter, ?In Step?, and occasional ?Communique? bulletins to keep the e-mail community up-to-date with happenings of the dance company. To be added to the Csárdás e-mail listing, visit the web site and add your e-mail address to the ?Join Our E-Mail List? box on the Home page.

New costumes were added to the Csárdás repertoire this season which gives the youth ensemble a variety of authentic Hungarian costumes, all representing distinct areas of Hungary. The dances the youth ensemble performs are all authentic village-style dances, which, Richard Graber and Artistic director, Christopher Smith, researched in Hungary and Transylvania.
